The Bushey Heath Netball team encountered their first match against Ashfield Junior School on Monday. A selection of players from Year 5 and 6 were well supported by friends, family and our very own school mascots Sunny and Stompy.
The first quarter started at a very high standard and BH held their game well with Sadie and Jessica working brilliantly in the D. Not only were they facing match nerves but the wind also challenged their shooting. Srimoyyi held the centre court brilliantly and was well supported by Nadia. Our second quarter saw us mix up our teams in an effort to put some pressure on Ashfield’s shooters. Daniel and Yug played superbly together in defence managing to stave off a few shooting opportunities from the opposition. These 2 quarters resulted in Ashfield winning 8-2. This made BHP more determined.
In the next game, Jolie replaced Jessica and worked well with Sadie in Attack. Charlotte held her game and connected well with Nadia and Srimoyyi. Daniel and Yug continued defending well and kept the goal scoring of the opposition down.
Our last quarter saw some very tired players, yet they did not give up. The final score being 2-1 to Ashfield.
BH should be incredibly proud of themselves as they had tough competition. We will use this match as a basis for our training on Thursday.
A huge thank you to all our players and supporters.
